Santorini

Santorini es una isla volcánica situada en el mar Egeo, a 200 km del continente (Grecia). Forma parte del archipiélago de las Cyclades. Santorini es lo que queda de una erupción volcánica que destruyó los primeros asentamientos humanos, y que creó la actual caldera.

Se cuenta también que con esta explosión se destruyó La Atlántida,  lugar que las leyendas sitúan en Santorini.

Su capital, Thira, se halla encaramada en una escarpada pendiente, que debemos ascender de una de las dos maneras posibles: mediante el moderno teleférico, o subiendo por el camino peatonal por donde suben los tradicionales burros, que podemos alquilar para disfrutar de una subida cómoda y muy pintoresca.

No puede faltar una referencia a los graciosos burros, que con su testa enjoyada nos esperan en la subida a la ciudad, para llevarnos de paseo.

Artesanía de Venecia, Venetian Crafts part 2

Siguiendo con la artesanía de Venecia, me apetece presentar los papeles artesanales. Estos papeles están hechos con la técnica al agua.

Esta técnica consiste en sumergir el papel en agua en la que previamente hemos introducido colores al oleo, u otras pinturas, y se han separado con algún elemento como la trementina. Bueno, eso es lo que he leído pero seguramente habrá alguien más informado que puede aportar su granito de arena...

A mi me parece precioso, y me dan ganas intentarlo algún día.


Una de las tiendas más famosas de Venecia es la que os traigo aquí. Se llama Paolo Olbi, y su tradición se remonta a 1975, usando técnicas tradicionales. Su genuino trabajo merece una mención especial.

Artesanía de Venecia, Venetian crafts

Venecia tiene una larga y arraigada tradición cultural y artesanal. Muchos artistas se han dado cita en ella a través de los años. No cabe duda de que Venecia es un lugar privilegiado, inspiración de artistas y de románticos.

En este post quería hacer hincapié en las manifestaciones artísticas relacionadas con la artesanía, que es rica y variada. Podemos encontrar cristales de mil colores en la isla de Murano, joyas artísticamente decoradas, papel artesanal pintado al agua, bellas máscaras de carnaval hechas en paper-mache, el famoso encaje de la isla de Burano, y los brocados y terciopelos característicos.

Aquí os presento algunas muestras de encaje de Burano.

Es un encaje delicado y por completo artesanal.
